The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) went into effect on May 25, 2018. This has altered how software providers can handle personal data for EU (European Union) citizens.

This is particularly important for ResBook as it currently services guests from all over the world including those from the EU.

In order to stay compliant with this new law ResBook has made some changes:

Contact data now cannot be held for more than two years in ResBook. The guest information that is added in ResBook has the primary purpose of servicing the guest's interaction with the host. Once that interaction is complete and a reasonable time has passed the guest information will expire.

See our integration with Mailchimp if you wish to transfer this information to a marketing tool moving forward that they can opt-out of via email.

There are some exceptions. For example, if a guest decides to book again with the property within two years of their last booking they will stay on until 2 years from their last departure date.
